Uniforms
VPS requires all students to dress in a uniform Monday through Thursday. This policy is based upon two guiding principles. First, VPS wants all students to focus their attention on the academic challenges of the school day without the potential social distractions that can develop over dress and appearance issues. Second, this policy helps our parents avoid the time and distraction, which some students can engage in when deciding apparel issues
The dress code is deliberately simple and straight forward. It is quite natural and developmentally appropriate for some students, especially middle schoolers, to challenge and try to stretch the boundaries of this dress code. It is our responsibility as adults within this community to hold them responsible to the requirements of this dress code. We expect our parents to cooperate and support our efforts in this matter.
For field trips, dress uniforms will be required unless the venue of the field trip warrants a different type of attire. The teacher planning the field trip will make the decision in consultation with the Headmaster. Parents and students will be notified if there is a change. All school functions, such as concerts, graduation etc., require the dress uniform. When in doubt, parents are urged to read the Roar or call the school office.
VPS keeps a uniform bank on campus for all to use. If you have any clean, wearable uniform pieces that could be donated to the bank, please bring them to the Main Office.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Hair should be neat, clean, combed, and the student’s natural color. Extreme or nontraditional hair styles are not permitted except on crazy hair day. A list of approved uniform vendors and daily/dress wear requirements follow later in this section. A copy was also mailed home. Please ask the front office for another copy if needed.

Field Trips: Dress uniform unless otherwise specified by the teacher.
School Functions: Dress Uniform - You will be informed in advance.
UNIFORM VIOLATIONS
The following is a progressive disciplinary plan for all VPS students who are noncompliant with the dress code and have not been granted an exemption.
1st offense - Phone call to parents to bring correct clothing.
2nd offense - Phone call to parents to bring correct clothing. One after school detention (4th – 8th) or loss of recess (K – 3rd).
3rd offense - Phone call to parents to bring correct clothing. Two after school detentions (4th – 8th) or loss of recess (K – 3rd).
4th offense - Phone call to parents to bring correct clothing. In-school suspension.
5th offense - Phone call to parents to bring correct clothing. Out of school suspension.
6th offense - Disciplinary proceeding (formal).
Uniform violations will be logged on TeacherEase.
