Congratulations to Gina Bachtel, 6th Grade, for winning First Place as the highest scoring student in our Region of seven counties (Imperial, Kern, Monterey, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties) for 6th grade math students. Gina scored the highest on the math competition test among the thousands of 6th grade students competing in our region. We are very proud of Gina! Gina is the daughter of David Bachtel and Mercedes Murillo.
Congratulations to the entire 6th Grade class of students for winning honors as the Third Place (third highest scoring class) in our seven county Region also. We are very proud of the 6th Graders for their accomplishment. Since there are hundreds of classes in this large region, this is quite an accomplishment.
We recognize and congratulate our middle school math teacher, Mrs. Mary Fung, for the success of her students and class. Mrs. Fung works so hard to teach our Valley Prep students math principles and how to "think at higher levels" using mathematical concepts. This exam required students to use their problem solving and critical thinking skills.
