During the school's weekly flag ceremony on Monday morning, November 16, 2009, the Valley Preparatory School community showed its generosity by donating canned food goods that filled 2 mini-vans for a good cause: Inland Harvest. In past years, Valley Prep developed a partnership with Inland Harvest, donating significant amounts of canned food items to provide nourishment for Inland Empire families in the Redlands and surrounding areas around the holiday periods.
The food drive involved the entire Valley Prep community "family" including the students, parents, PTO organization, teachers, staff and board of trustees. The school's character education program lesson on caring for others emphasized the duty one has to give back to one's community and to be compassionate for others.
The students were so excited to make their donations and filed by the vehicles to personally place their items in the vehicles.
