This visual arts program provides students with a level of aesthetic literacy which gives them an understanding of the communicative nature of the arts; in turn, providing them with both expressive and intellectual skills.  Students are made aware that, in our society, much more information is transmitted visually than verbally.  Students learn to view things in a creative and aesthetic way deriving those skills through the creative process and experience of creating their own art.  Part of the structure of the visual arts program is to provide aesthetic perception, creative expression, a historic and cultural awareness, and the use of analysis for art interpretation.  The ideal "end product" of the visual arts program will be a well rounded individual who, through exposure to process, mediums, historical, and cultural similarities and differences, will have an awareness and appreciation for their own work and the works of others.
