The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has as its fundamental objectives the promotion of a closer relationship between the home and school both socially and academically; the enhancement of the learning environment for students; and the development of committees, programs, and projects to raise funds to achieve these goals. All faculty members and parents or guardians who have a child enrolled in Valley Preparatory School are automatically members of the PTO and are enthusiastically encouraged to attend all meetings and participate in all events. Currently, PTO meetings are held in the multi-purpose room on the first Monday of each month at 8:15 a.m., after the Flag Assembly.

The officers of the PTO consist of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. A slate of officers is presented by a Nominating Committee with elections being held at the April meeting. Officers serve a term of one year. All PTO members are eligible for office.

Many PTO committees exist both to augment functions of the PTO as well as to actively include as many PTO members as possible in the organization. The Hospitality Committee plans the fall Back-to-School Picnic and the Spring Picnic. A Room Parent Committee delineates basic responsibilities and procedures for the designated room parents. The Halloween Carnival Committee arranges a fun evening for the school at the end of October. The Holiday Shoppe Committee organizes gifts to be purchased or crafted for the traditional holiday shopping event for the students. The Grandparents' Day Committee plans an event itinerary and luncheon for invited grandparents (or other special individual). The Spring Fundraising Committee designs an event to be inclusive to all and realize substantial funds at its conclusion. The Book Store Committee maintains the campus store, which provides school supplies and snacks. The SCRIP Committee handles the sale of SCRIP gift certificates for businesses who in turn donate a percentage to the school.

All PTO members are welcome to present ideas, comments, complaints or suggestions.  "The Roar" newsletter provides updates on activities and news. Becoming an active participant of the PTO is an excellent opportunity to be involved in Valley Preparatory School--we look forward to your input.
